in these tactics is in Happy Dreamy Land (and is obviously too young to remember the tactics used against anti-war groups during the Vietnam war). This is routine, textbook tactics.
The only surprises for me are that (1) so many people, including otherwise-cynical Kossacks, just can't bring themselves to believe Officer Friendly would do such dastardly things; and (2) the press falls for it every time, with not the first hint of skepticism or disapproval. I still don't understand why so many reporters are in such great sympathy with authority.
