May 17, 2012 Don't think I have a lot of events in my life? Well back in April the water started to get warm from hot, didn't think nothing about it then it just went cold. I called Sear's repair and set up an appointment for a repair person. One came out, and he didn't take long and said both bottom and top coils bured out. Also stated that I must have the bottom coil out for a long time since water was just right for everyone as I told him and we thought the tank was just set low because of the little kids not to get burned. In short was nice. Then bang as I said went cold. He charged close to three hundred dollars Parts only seventy-six dollars. We were happy, never had hot water like this for a long time. Two weeks later went out again. Sear's repairman came out and said one coil went out and that happens every so often, but still under ninty day warranty, so I would not have to pay for this coil. Great I say and hot water again. Another couple weeks and cold again. Ok, what is going on Sear's repair person I ask. Trying to get me to the ninty day cut off or what? No this time it is water got to the wires and you need a new water heater. What? Yes, I noticed it this time. Oh no way to dry it out or what? No, could not see where the water comes from, but it happens some times, and probably why the coils keep going out. Ok, now what about the three hundred for repairs and you didjn't notice this before. No, but this time I coulkd see the problem. Oh and could not find it the first time. No, but no reason to put another coil in as it will just burn out. Ok, what will new one cost, not knowing about this water heater until today 5/17 when I had one of my son's friends buy another one and re-do it. Lot less than what Sear's wanted from me which was over six hundred plus. But, they did feel bad and would refund the parts money in five days. Well, this is why he could not put in a new coil as he did some dumb ass wiring it looks like to me. What do you think? What ever this idiot did could have burned this place down. This was after a Sear's reoairman came out to repair my water heater. This was his third trip, and on this third trip he stated that water leaked into the wire's and caught it on fire. Had a coil burned out was the reason for the call then it hsppened again, and he said sometimes the coils just go bad and replaced it. This third time he said it was water getting to the wires, and I needed a new water heater. I did get a new water heater, but not from sear's. In fact I feel Sear's should have bought me a new water heater. As this looks as if repairman did not get some wires right. Could have caught house on fire. Wonder if that maybe was the intent?LOL
